Patrol
Squadron Two (VP-2) Association
PO Box 2894
Gardnerville NV

Dear Shipmate,
Nice to hear from you. This note provides some basic info about
the Association.
The VP-2 Association is
organized and operated primarily to further comradeship among our VP-2
shipmates, to honor the memory of all military veterans and
particularly those
who gave their lives in service to their country, to encourage
patriotism, and
to honor the sacrifices of military wives and families who support
their loved
ones in military service. The
principal
activity of the Association is a biannual reunion, first held in 1984
at Oak
Harbor, and most recently in mid September 2006 at the Skagit Valley
Casino Resort just north of Mount Vernon, WA. It turns out that
this was the facility that could provide for the 300+ that attended the
reunion in conjunction with the Whidbey Patrol Squadron Memorial
dedication in Oak Harbor.
Membership in the VP-2
Association is available to persons who have served in VP-2 and its
forerunners. Widows and children of VP-2
veterans, and other persons with an abiding interest in VP-2 are
invited to
participate as affiliated persons. Members
are obligated to fulfill the purposes of the Association individually
and in
concert with Association functions to the extent feasible, to pay dues
(currently $20 every two years, due on 01Jan of even numbered years),
and to
maintain current contact information with the Association's Secretary.
The
Association has
established a website to facilitate the exchange of VP-2 information,
to assist
in maintaining the memories of our shipmates, and to act as an
electronic
storehouse for VP-2 operations and the personal stories of the people
who
contributed to the squadron's success.
The submission of stories and images is appreciated. The address for the Association's website is http://www.patron2.com/
Access is available to those without a home
personal computer by visiting their local library.
In addition to the reunion
activities, the Association has recently established a "Ship's Store"
to make available various VP-2 oriented memorabilia items.
The Association is also the sponsor and prime
mover in the creation of the Whidbey Patrol Squadron Memorial in
Oak
Harbor. The
memorial was dedicated and turned over the the city of Oak Harbor on
14Sep2006. More information is available on the association
website.
Thank
you for your
interest in the association. To activate
your membership, please complete the membership application (pdf) (or the equivalent html data sheet if that is more convenient), and send it
to me
with your check.
Yours truly,
Doug Donohue
